I’d like to take an opportunity through this blog to give thanks to everyone who has read my blog posts here on Datahai and also on my Azure Synapse Analytics focused blog Serverlesssql.com. I’ve really enjoyed researching and writing these blog posts and the questions they have raised, there have certainly been plenty of discussions on Twitter about everything Cloud Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence related. I enjoy these debates, I believe it pushes us all to delve deeper and critically evaluate our choices and helps us grow and learn.

A huge thank you to everyone who has read my blogs and watched my sessions during 2021, it means the world to me

I have not been actively involved with the Data Community for very long but I can honestly say it’s been one of the biggest highlights in recent years, I have truly appreciated the people I have met, talked to, collaborated with, shared ideas, debated with, and supported and have been supported by. It is a great community and I sincerely hope I have added to that and can continue to do so. I was blown away to be awarded as a Data Platform MVP, many thanks to Ben Watt for nominating me and to Bob Duffy, Nikola Ilic, and Mark Pryce-Maher for supporting (and to Claire and Rie!), I am truly thankful.

During 2021 we lost family and friends. Ferenc Csonka, whom I shared a passion with for Synapse Analytics Serverless SQL Pools, passed away and that was a shock I can tell you, my heart goes out to his family and friends.

For me 2022 will continue with plenty of Azure Synapse Analytics goodness, blogs, videos, and sessions. I am excited to be part of the Data Toboggan Synapse Analytics conference organising team with Richard, Victoria, and Mark. Here’s hoping we do great things.

Again, a huge thank you to everyone and remember… be kind to each other, talk, share, laugh, cry, argue, debate, hug, support.

Take care and big love.

Andy

There is no family quite like #sqlfamily, and no team quite like #TeamData.
Here’s to those we have lost this year, and may their memory be honoured by w… I can’t. It’s so sad. We miss you, Ferenc and Euan. And everyone else who cannot be with us next time. 🧡
